Spring Is Finally Here — And So Are the Plants! 🌱

Hey plant friends! If you’ve been following me on Life of Bellina on YouTube, you already know I’m obsessed with plant events — especially the ones happening right here in the Greater Toronto Area. May is hands-down one of the best months of the year for Ontario plant collectors. We’ve got plant sales, orchid shows, Mother’s Day markets, and enough botanical treasures to fill every windowsill in your home (and maybe your neighbour’s too 👀).

Whether you’re hunting for rare orchids, carnivorous plants, native perennials for your garden, or just looking for a beautiful bouquet to spoil mom on Mother’s Day, this guide has you covered. I’ve rounded up four must-visit plant events happening across the GTA in May 2026 — with dates, times, locations, vendor info, and official websites so you can plan ahead.

Bookmark this post, share it with your plant-obsessed friends, and let’s dive in! 💚

Why May Is the Best Month for GTA Plant Lovers

May in Ontario is magical for plant people. Spring temperatures are finally warm enough for outdoor markets, local growers are bursting with new stock, and Mother’s Day weekend turns into an unofficial “plant weekend” with events happening all over the city. Whether you live in downtown Toronto, Burlington, Mississauga, Ajax, or anywhere in the GTA, there’s a plant event nearby that’s worth the trip.

Here’s my curated list of the top plant events in the GTA for May 2026 👇

🌷 May 9, 2026 — Toronto Flower Market @ CAMH

One of Toronto’s most iconic outdoor flower markets returns for its 13th season!

The Toronto Flower Market is kicking off its 2026 season on Mother’s Day weekend — and trust me, this is one you don’t want to miss. Running one Saturday per month from May through October, the market celebrates Ontario-grown flowers and supports local growers and florists.

  • 📍 Location: TD Commons Park at CAMH, 1001 Queen St. W., Toronto (corner of Queen & Shaw)
  • 🕙 Time: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Expect tulips, peonies, orchids, succulents, lavender bouquets, and seasonal blooms you won’t find anywhere else. There are also vendors selling pottery, soaps, honey, and other handmade goods — perfect for Mother’s Day gifts.

🌿 May 10, 2026 — Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Garden (Toronto Botanical Garden)

Spend Mother’s Day surrounded by spring blooms at Toronto’s most beautiful garden.

The Toronto Botanical Garden is hosting a brand-new Mother’s Day Marketplace featuring local, sustainable vendors. It’s the perfect way to make mom feel special — stroll through the blooming gardens, shop handmade goods, and grab a coffee at the on-site café.

  • 📍 Location: Toronto Botanical Garden, 777 Lawrence Ave E, Toronto
  • 🕤 Time: 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Heads up: I didn’t see a lot of plant vendors on this list — it’s more of a curated handmade/eco-conscious market — but Crystal Star Nursery will be there with their beautiful botanical treasures, so plant lovers can still score some unique finds! 🪴

One of the most anticipated plant sales in Toronto — and one of my personal favourites!

The Friends of Allan Gardens Spring Plant Sale is a multi-vendor event packed with variety. This is THE place to go if you want everything from native plants to carnivorous species to cultural plants and veggie starters — all in one stop.

  • 📍 Location: Allan Gardens Palm House & Children’s Conservatory, 160 Gerrard St E, Toronto
  • 🕙 Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (one day only!)

Tips for Making the Most of Plant Events in the GTA

Before you head out, here are a few tips I’ve learned from attending a lot of plant events:

  1. Arrive early. The rare plants sell out FAST. If there’s a specific vendor or plant on your wishlist, be there when doors open.
  2. Bring your own bags and a wagon. Most events are multi-vendor, and carrying heavy pots gets old fast.
  3. Cash + card, just in case. Most vendors accept debit/credit, but some smaller sellers may be cash-only.
  4. Follow the vendors on Instagram. Many post previews of what they’ll bring a day or two before the event.
  5. Take public transit if you can. Parking downtown is a nightmare, especially on weekends.
  6. Don’t forget your camera! These events are stunning and make for amazing content (if you’re a plant YouTuber like me, you know what I mean 😉).

What Plant Events Am I Missing?

This is just a starting point — there are ALWAYS more plant events popping up in the GTA, especially through smaller community groups, horticultural societies, and private sellers. If you know of any other plant events happening in May 2026, drop them in the comments below so we can all stay informed and support our local plant community! 💚

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Are these plant events free to attend? A: Most of them are FREE to enter! The Toronto Flower Market, Burlington Bloom Bazaar, and Allan Gardens Spring Plant Sale are all free admission. The Toronto Botanical Garden Mother’s Day event may have separate ticketed workshops — check their website for details.

Q: Do I need to book tickets in advance? A: For most of these events, no advance booking is needed. However, workshops at the Toronto Botanical Garden (like the succulent and paper quilling workshops on May 10) do require tickets.

Q: Can I pre-order plants for pickup at these events? A: Yes! Crystal Star Nursery often allows pre-orders for pickup at their scheduled events. Check crystalstarnursery.com for pickup cutoff dates.

Q: Are kids and pets welcome? A: Yes to both at most outdoor events! The Toronto Flower Market is dog-friendly. Indoor events like Burlington Bloom Bazaar may have different rules, so check before bringing pets.

Q: What if I can’t make it to any of these events? A: Most of these vendors have online stores or ship across Ontario and Canada. You can also follow them on social media to stay updated on future events and restocks.

Final Thoughts 🌿

May in the GTA is a plant lover’s paradise, and these four events are just the tip of the iceberg. Whether you’re new to the plant world or an experienced collector like me, there’s something magical about connecting with local growers, discovering rare species, and bringing home a new botanical treasure. See you at the markets! 💚
